Abstract

The article is devoted to the concepts of “Russian name”, “Russian prestige”, “dignity of Russia”, etc., which are significant for the discourse of Russian policy in Qajar Iran. It is shown that these categories were used in the formulation of political agenda in the Iranian direction during the “long 19th century”. The need to maintain the “prestige” of Russia, the high status of the “Russian name” is becoming an important element of both understanding Russia’s policy in Persia and motivating certain decisions. Special attention is paid to those advantages (both real or imagined), which, in the perception of contemporaries, entailed the maintenance of the high status of the “Russian name” in Persia.
