Abstract

Dmitry Aleksandrovich Rovinsky is familiar to every researcher of printed graphics. His scientifi c heritage forms the basis of classical literature on the history of Russian engraving. Nevertheless, the full potential of the researcher’s works has not yet been exhausted. In modern art criticism, new research topics are emerging, allowing us to look at D. A. Rovinsky’s works from new points of view. This article is devoted to the work of the scientist in the fi eld of Russian magazine pictures of the fi rst third of the 19th century. The problems of scientifi c development of this material are identifi ed. The directions of research and scientifi c approaches used by D. A. Rovinsky are analysed. The results of the work of the engraving expert and its value for modern art history are determined.
