Abstract

The article tells about the emigrant fate of the representative of the school of Western Russian law, historian of Russian law Mikhail Nikitich Yasinsky (1862—1935). His teaching activity at the University of Ljubljana is analyzed, the main directions of scientific research are characterized, and everyday details of his life are described. It is concluded that even in exile in Yugoslavia, Yasinsky continued to practice the main approaches of the school of Western Russian law in his scientific work — the comparative historical method and special attention to Slavic legal history. The article is written on the basis of both published and archival sources from the archives of Russia and Slovenia.
