Abstract

European security policy has evolved over a number of historical stages. The fi rst developments appeared in the 50s — 90s of the last century within the framework of the Yalta- Potsdam bipolar system. After 1991, a number of projects for the development of the militarypolitical integration of the European Union, strategically linked to NATO, followed. At the present stage, Europe has embarked on an aggressive policy towards Russia, threatening its sovereignty and security. In this situation, Russia is determined to defend its national interests in order to neutralize emerging threats, create conditions for the cessation of unfriendly actions and form a new model of co-existence with European states.
