Abstract

Many German prisons host ethnically separate communities of Russian German migrants, and the prison staff have certain problems to keep them under control. The goal of this article is to describe the societal developments that led to this problem and the actual situation in prison. Therefore the Russian prison communities are compared with the version that is implemented in Germany. Some preliminary findings of a recent qualitative study are presented to offer new findings because only little research exists on this topic.
