Abstract

The article explores the questions regarding the development and present status of the Russian-American relations in the territories that had been an integral part of the Russian Empire and called Russian-America. The article is written on the basis of an interdisciplinary approach. The article highlights the main historiographical approaches to the study of the history and heritage of Russian America. Close attention is paid to the analysis of the history of The Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska. The circumstances of the decision on the sale of the Russian colonies in the North Pacific to the United States are explored. The key figures in this process are highlighted. It is shown how the problems of history and cultural heritage of Russia in the North Pacific are examined at the international conferences. It is shown why, at the present stage, the study of the history and heritage of Russian America can bring Russia and the United States closer, and the theme itself is a unique window or a field for cooperation in various fields.
