Abstract
In 2006 there were no conceptual changes in Russian legislation on trusts. There were a number of developments in Russian legislation relating to certain practical uses and particular aspects of the trust concept in Russia. The most notable changes are (i) a new legislation to facilitate the use of the trust to manage the assets of the charitable organizations and (ii) improvements of the already existing provisions of the Russian legislation relating to management of the pension funds. The Russian authorities adopted new legislation regulating the management by the non-commercial organizations of charitable funds provided to them by private persons and companies for specific charitable purposes, such as education, science, public health, culture, sports (except for the professional sport), arts and social support. Before this legislation was adopted there was no sufficient regulation on these issues in Russia. This was one of the factors making the donations to charitable organizations unattractive. Now a more precise legislative framework for charitable donations appeared.
