Abstract
In large lines, the years provide adequate segments for what happened in Asia during Second World War. Wishing to cut the supply lines which kept alive Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist government in the interior, the Japanese, after the fall of France, insisted on cutting the rail supply lines through French Indo-China to Yunnan. Philippines and Malaya were attacked in the first week of December 1941, and in a rash sideways move to keep the US fleet from interfering, Pearl Harbour was attacked on December 1941. Japan's most interesting contribution was the use of the shinpū or kamikaze pilots and submarine commanders. In signals intelligence, US codebreakers had cracked the Japanese diplomatic code which enabled them to read the signals flashing between Tokyo and the Japanese embassy in Washington.Keywords:Asia; Second World War; United States (US)
