RURAL WOMAN PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN SOME VILLAGES – KAFR EL SHEKH GOVERNORATE

Abstract

The research aimed at determining the kind of activities which rural womanparticipate in local community development, also problems and suggestions foractivating participation.The research was conducted at three villages in sedy sallem district with a randomsample of 298 rural women. Chi square test, smiple correlation coefficient of Pearson,and multiple regression were used for data analysing.The research showed the following results:- Percentages of women participation in tree planting, tidiness and illiteracy programswere low, while it was high in cooperative activities of village services.- The most important variables which explain the variation in rural womanparticipation as a dependent variable were cosmopolitiness, leadership and informalsocial participation.- The most important problems facing rural woman participation in developing localcommunity were belives and traditions.- Women suggestions for activating participation were: increasing social servies whichproviding for womam, training programs for woman, and equality with men.
