Abstract

1. Running in of steels with a bainitic structure with a high carbon content (0.8–1%) is accompanied by little wear. 2. In the process of running in the complex dimensionless characteristic of surface roughness Δ decreases. 3. The lower wear of the bainitic structure in the process of running in as compared with a martensitic structure is due to hardening of the surface layer, accompanied by an increase of microdistortion.
