Abstract

Up to now, the artistic applications of CAD systems are relatively unknown. This article deals with the development and application of art pattern CAD system. Different from geometric modeling CAD in which the objects are well-defined mathematically, art pattern CAD consists of two fundamental classes of activities. One concerns Computer Graphics which makes visual images and the other, more difficult, concerns Knowledge Engineering which acquires, represents and implements the aesthetic rules (or artistic knowledge) for creating art patterns. In the article, the author presents an approach to generative rule-based system for the aesthetic need based on pattern grammer and fuzzy inference, and also discusses some pseudo-3D graphic methods for displaying art images.
