Abstract
The ruderal flora of some villages in the Engadin (upper Inn valley, Switzerland) was investigated in 1990 and 1992. The data are published today despite the great delay because they should be part of a long time monitoring. Overall 212 spontaneously growing taxa in 8 villages between 1236 m and 1716 m about sea level were recorded showing a highly diverse and characteristic ruderal flora, e.g. Anchusa officinalis, Artemisa absinthium, Artemisia vulgaris, Asperugo procumbens, Ballota nigra, Blitum virgatum, Chaerophyllum aureum, Chelidonium majus, Chenopodium bonus-henricus, Chenopodium hybridum, Cirsium arvense, Cirsium eriophorum, Cirsium vulgare, Cynoglossum officinale, Descurainia sophia, Echium vulgare, Elymus repens, Epilobium angustifolium, Galium aparine, Geranium pyrenaicum, Hyoscyamus niger, Lamium album, Malva neglecta, Matricaria discoidea, Melilotus officinalis, Onopordum acanthium, Sambucus racemosa, Senecio rupestris, Sisymbrium strictissimum, Sonchus oleraceus, Tripleurospermum inodorum, Urtica dioica, Urtica urens, Verbascum lychnitis. The dependence of the flora on altitude and on number of inhabitants was tested. Special attention was put on ornamental plants running wild. Invasive plants played only a negligible role.
