Abstract
In this note a design competition is proposed where students are given an off-the-shelf rubber-band-driven model airplane. They are to use the principles of aerodynamics to alter the design of the plane to carry cargo over extended distances. Project has been used successfully with large groups of students at both primary and secondary grade levels. Idea would also serve for a science club activity.
