Abstract
The title reactions are zero order in periodate and first order in Ru(III). All substrates show a first order dependence except for p-xylene and fluorene which follow a Michaelis-Menten behavior. The Hammett plot gives a σ values of-2.0. A mechanism involving metal arene π-interaction is discussed.
