Abstract

The site of Seclin (Nord) has displayed a very interessing industry belonging to a singular faciès of the Middle Palaeolithic. The present paper describes the first observations about the spatial repartition of the flint industry and reveals several archaeological levels. The industry exhibits chiefly numerous elongated levallois blades associated with an original set of tool. The first technological results suggest a particular technics of debitage from discoïds and protoprismatics cores. Both the extent of the excavated area and the stableness of the industry charaters through the archaeological sequence have permitted to name this original facies : "faciès de Seclin".
