Abstract

Following the theoretical treatment in Part I, the emission patterns of molecules emitted by various evaporation sources were measured. Speed distribution function measurements were also completed. The statistical model proposed in Part I is found to be in good agreement with the experimental data. These measurements show that the evaporation patterns from flat heaters are not stable. For better results it is necessary to use enclosed sources in which the molecules are reflected one or more times before emission.
