Abstract

Relative line intensities have been measured by Fourier-transform infrared emission spectroscopy of the 1—0 vibration—rotation band of ArH +. The ratio of the dipole moment to the dipole derivative has been determined independently of knowing the ion concentration from the variation of intensity with rotation. The result is in agreement with ab initio theoretical studies of the electric-dipole-moment function.
