Abstract

A standard lightweight cipher PRESENT has attracted attention as an encryption technique for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Regarding hardware security, illegal attacks such as side-channel attacks have been reported. This study proposes an unrolled architecture, which has a resistance against side-channel attacks (tamper resistance), for PRESENT. In the proposed method, to reduce a circuit area, a new round processing aware architecture is implemented. Experiments using a field programmable gate array evaluate the proposed tamper resistant architecture.
