Abstract
Processing of highly basic slags in the liquid state with the use of traditional energy carriers (water, compressed air, steam) is difficult due to the rapid increase in viscosity during cooling of the melt. Variants of processing of liquid metallurgical slags by a stream of compressed air and metal bodies moving in a cavity of a drum on a grate are considered. An experimental installation of rotor (drum) type has been developed. The mechanism of melt stream destruction and cooling of slag by metal bodies has been proposed. According to the results of experiments on the experimental plant, an industrial unit for processing of liquid converter slag was developed, which was successfully implemented at the Baosteel plant (PRC). To study the technology of liquid slag processing, a small experimental-industrial plant was created, which was tested at metallurgical enterprises for processing of blast furnace, steel, ferroalloy and copper smelting slags. Devices for shaping the finished product are proposed. The design of the installation of similar type created in FSUE TsNIIchermet named after I. P. Bardin is considered. The research results and prospects of application of rotary type plants for processing of metallurgical slags in a liquid state are presented.
