Abstract

In this paper, a rotor position estimation method of sensorless starting control for aviation three-stage synchronous machine (TSSM) is proposed. The 2nd harmonic voltage caused by the rotating rectifier is employed as the high-frequency (HF) signal injected into the field winding of the main generator (MG). Based on quadrature signals obtained by delaying the HF response voltage signals extracted from the armature windings of MG, a simplified rotor position demodulation strategy without the low-pass filter (LPF) is presented. The rotor position estimation error caused by the filters and signal delay modules is also analyzed, and the corresponding compensation strategy is given. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the experiment results.
