Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate the performance of speed sensorless Non-Linear Adaptive Control (NAC) of Induction Motor (IM) traction drive employed on different driving profiles of Electric Vehicles such as accelerating, constant speed and decelerating mode and tracking accuracy of Rotor Flux based Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) rotor speed estimator at different reference driving profile speed. Dynamic model of electric vehicle and d-q model of IM are presented first in order to understand the required tractive force for the propulsion system and behavior of the motor for transient analysis respectively. Rotor flux based Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) speed estimator and Non-linear Adaptive controller are designed and implemented on traction drive for the desired performance. Simulation results show the satisfactory performance of speed regulation with the proposed speed sensorless control under different driving profiles. Hence, rotor flux based MRAS speed estimator is implemented in nonlinear adaptive control of IM to get the effective and reliable solution for the speed estimation in sensorless traction drive.
