Abstract

A novel rotation-free phaseless far-field gain measurement method of linearly polarized (LP) antennas using artificial anisotropic polarizers (AAP) is proposed in this paper. No rotation of the antenna probe or phase information is required during the measurement, bringing in great simplifications to the measuring procedure and device. Experiments for a rectangular LP horn operating between 50 to 67 GHz have been conducted for verification at different E-plane angles, showing the gain error less than 0.7 dB between the measured and the nominal values. The measurement method is useful for gain measurements of LP antennas especially at millimeter-wave and terahertz range.
