Abstract

Transitions induced by rotation of the internuclear axis in close collisions of atomic particles at low energies are investigated within the one-electron united-atom approximation. The three-state problem ( sigma to pi , delta transitions) is treated in more detail. Effects arising as a consequence of a different choice of classical trajectories of the nuclei are demonstrated in the example of 3d sigma to 3d pi , 3d delta transitions, contributing to the Li3++H to Li2++H+ charge-exchange reaction.
