Abstract
Rotational relaxation times have been measured for methane ( 13CD 4) in collisions with itself, He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, and CH 2F 2, using the method of infrared double resonance. Collision efficiencies range from one-half to greater than gas-kinetic, and the measured relaxation times are longer in the vibrational ground state than in the υ 4 = 1 excited state.
