Abstract

Rotational Doppler shift in vortex electromagnetic (EM) wave radar system can provide more detailed features of rotating objects, especially the features which is perpendicular to the radar line of sight (LOS) direction. In this paper, we investigate the extraction of rotational Doppler shift of multi-scattering-point target using vortex EM wave with opposite orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes (topological charges). Firstly, a multi-scattering-point target rotational Doppler model is established, and its characteristics in the time-frequency (TF) domain are studied by signal simulation. Then, a method is proposed for extracting the rotational Doppler shift of the multi-scattering-point target based on the vortex EM wave with opposite OAM modes. Theoretical and electromagnetic simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, which is of great advantage to acquire more information of rotating target through vortex-EM-wave-based radar.
