Abstract

An oscillator carrying (light) rovibronic state is coupled to symmetry like (dark) states via anharmonic interactions and to (dark) states with different symmetry via combined anharmonic and Coriolis interactions. For the model of equally spaced but randomly distributed dark states analytic expressions for the width of the light state are derived. As an example the linewidth of the 14112-state of benzene is discussed as function of the rotational quantum numbers J and K.
