Abstract
We present a model calculation for N identical valence nucleons moving in a pure i 12 2 orbital about a strongly deformed core. The calculation is done in the lab frame for all N. Backbending and decoupled bands emerge for various N-values. The B(E2) values and static quadropole moments are also calculated within this framework.
