Abstract
This article discusses the feasibility of industrial applications of electrostatic generators. A detailed description of the operating principles and technical functioning of cylindrical generators developed at Grenoble University is presented. It is shown that these cylindrical generators are the first electrostatic machines suitable for industrial use on a broad scale. The parameters of several generators now being manufactured by industry on a regular basis are given.
