It take a lot of water at a very high pressure to remove mill scale from hot-rolled steel. Consequently, the service life of descaling pumps is decisively dependent on good engineering and the use of good materials. World Pumps talked to Wolfgang Igelhorst from SMS Damag AG and Berthold Matz from KSB Aktiengesellschaft about what makes a pump suitable for descaling systems in steel making.
