Abstract

On June 19, 1953, Ethel Rosenberg was executed, along with her husband Julius Rosenberg, for conspiracy to commit espionage. The daughter of a Russian immigrant, performer, and advocate for social justice, Ethel was one of the first US citizens to be executed for war crimes during peacetime. The evidence against her was controversial, and to this day, the borough of Manhattan still celebrates her political activism and subsequent injustice.
