Abstract

Mandibular central and lateral incisors and canines were examined to determine the number and types of root canals, the number and location of lateral canals and apical foramens, and the frequency of apical deltas. One hundred mandibular central incisors, lateral incisors, and canines were decalcified, injected with dye, cleared, and used in an in vitro study to determine the number of root canals and their types, the ramifications of the main root canal, the location of apical foramens, and the frequency of apical deltas. Two canals at the apex of the tooth were found in 3% of the mandibular central incisors, in 2% of the mandibular lateral incisors, and in 6% of the mandibular canines studied.
