Abstract

We report temperature-dependent up-conversion fluorescence from Er 3+ and Tm 3+ C 4v centers in CaF 2, upon pumping with a single red-dye laser. The up-conversion mechanism is a sequential two-photon excitation process in which the laser is resonant with either a ground-state or an excited-state absorption transition.
