Abstract

A novel two dimensional (2D) copper(II) polymer [Cu3(N3)6(DMF)2] n (1) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, X-ray single crystal diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Complex 1 was formed by a [Cu3(N3)6(DMF)2] trimeric unit through two double symmetric end-on (EO) azide bridges which further constructed 2-D network through asymmetric EO and end–end azide bridges. The magnetic study shows that the compound 1 exhibits ferromagnetic interactions through symmetric EO azide bridges and antiferromagnetic interactions via asymmetric EO azide bridges.
