Abstract

A novel and simple chemical reduction method at room temperature is described to synthesize nanocrystallite CdS, ZnS, CdxZn1-xS. In this method anhydrous cadmium chloride, zinc chloride, sulphur and sodium borohydride reacts at room temperature in organic solvent THF. The grown nanoparticles are characterized by XRD, TEM, EDX, UV-VIS absorption and photoluminescence. The particle sizes are in the range 5-15 nm.
