Abstract

Rod-like nanocrystalline Ag 2Te has been prepared via a room temperature reaction between AgCl and element Te in the mixed solvent of ethylenediamine and hydrazine hydrate. The product was characterized through XRD, TEM, and XPS. The results showed that the product was the monoclinic phase Ag 2Te with high purity, and was well crystallized as a uniform rod-like crystal with a length of 120 nm and a diameter of 30 nm on average. The possible mechanism for the formation of the Ag 2Te nanocrystals in mixed solvent was discussed.
