Abstract
We report on room temperature laser actions of a novel thulium-doped crystal Tm:Lu2SiO5 (LSO) pumped by a fiber-coupled diode. In the experiment, a 3.4 W incident power is used to generate a maximum laser output of 196 mW, representing a 5.76% optical-to-optical conversion efficiency and a 7.32% slope efficiency. A single oscillation wavelength of Tm:LSO at 2003 nm has been observed.
