Abstract

In recent years, IoT and AI technologies have been developing rapidly. To utilize these technologies in home environment, it is important to capture and visualize environmental information in a house. Previous study has developed an indoor device-free localization (DFL) method using multipath radio tomographic imaging (RTI) based on emerging millimeter-wave (mm-wave) radio systems such as 5 G mobile and IEEE 802.11 ad/ay WiGig. The multipath RTI requires the prior knowledge about the individual propagation pathways of the targeted environment instead of constructing the measurement based dictionary. In this paper, the localization method using the room geometry estimation technique to obtain the necessary prior knowledge was proposed, and the performance was demonstrated via ray tracing simulations.
