Abstract

A series of Ag(I) complexes with one- and two-dimensional structures have been successfully prepared by the reactions of 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole, L, with Ag(I) salts, and these complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complexes {[Ag(L)2][PF6]}∞ (1), {[Ag2(L)4][SO4]·2H2O}∞ (2), {[Ag4(L)7][ClO4]4}∞ (3) and [Ag(L)(NO3)]∞ (4) show 1-D polymeric infinite chains. The complex [Ag2(L)3(BF4)2]∞ (5) shows a 3-D supramolecular structure, which can be regarded as 2-D pleated rectangular grids of [Ag2(L)3(BF4)2]∞ and [Ag2(L)3(BF4)2]2 clusters. The resulting structural types of complexes 1–5 are affected by factors such as the counteranion. All the complexes exhibit emissions which may be tentatively assigned as intraligand (IL) π→π∗ transitions.
