Abstract

In recent years, some cardiovascular guidelines have gradually introduced ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) as an indispensable means for better diagnosis and management of hypertensive patients. ABPM can more comprehensively provide 3 types of information that has potential clinical value: the assessment of real or mean blood pressure level, the diurnal rhythm of blood pressure, and the blood pressure variability. This article reviews the roles of ABPM in the outcome assessment in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Key words: Stroke; Brain Ischemia; Blood Pressure; Blood Pressure Monitoring, Ambulatory; Prognosis
