Abstract
SUMMARY Interest is growing in Semantic technologies such as XML, XML Schema, ontologies, and ontology languages, as well as in the tools that facilitate working with such technologies. This paper examines the current library automation environment and identifies semantic tools and technologies that might be suitable for use in some libraries and other knowledge-intensive organizations.
