Abstract

Background: The veterinary nursing role has developed significantly over the past 30 years and continues to do so. Indeed, registered veterinary nurses (RVNs) are instrumental in providing exceptional patient care and building meaningful relationships with clients. Moreover, nurses running consults and clinics allows for career progression and ensures that their skills are fully utilised to provide these services and create revenue for veterinary practices.Aim of the article: This article outlines the benefits of offering an RVN‐led consulting service, for practices and individuals. It covers the types of consults that can be nurse led, and discusses various challenges that can present when setting up and progressing RVN consultation services. I hope this article provides some inspiration for those thinking about forming nursing consults and clinics in practice.
