Abstract
The routes of movements of two rodent species, Apodemus flavicollis (Melchior, 1834) and Clethrionomys glareolus (Schreber, 1780) were studied in the Bialowieza National Park in the forest community Querco-Carpinetum medioeuropaeum Tx 1936. One hundred and fifty livetraps were placed in three types of localities: a) on uprooted trees, b) beneath uprooted trees, c) independently from them. The rodents were caught, determined and released. There were obtained 2100 trap-days and 1424 captures (Tab. 1). During the night A. flavicollis was captured mainly on uprooted trees and C. glareolus beneath them. During the day A. flavicollis was not active and C. glareolus behaved similarly as during the night. It can be assumed that A. flavicollis which is a dominating species with respect to C. glareolus makes use of better routes
