Abstract

The continuous increase in load demand inspires the requirement of electricity which do not pollute the atmosphere and this demand can be met through the renewable energy grid. To achieve the goal of renewable energy integration and the minimization of the Emissions of Contaminants in the power generation, requirement of latest technology tools to design energy system, new energy policy is needed. In renewable energy sources, Solar and wind energy system are the major sources to be integrated with the existing power grid. Integration of solar wind energy sources induce power quality problems into the power grid. Many research findings have been published on various challenges and solutions to power quality because of renewable energy incorporation. This paper provides the solution that how power quality issues like voltage sag, swell and unbalanced voltage from the source side of the power grid connected with solar wind power plant can be solved. This is achieved by connected UPQC to the power grid. This UPQC efficiently minimizes the power quality issues in the power grid connected with the solar-wind power plant.
