Abstract

Summary Doseo depression is located in the middle of South Chad Basin, an underexplored frontier onshore zone with an area of 130,000km2, is belonging to Central African Rift System. Based on the latest seismic data interpretation results and structural physical simulation experiments, this paper defines the two stages of strike slip tectonism and development characteristics in the depression. Two stages of strike slip tectonic movement are developed in Doseo depression. The first stage is the strike slip tectonic movement under tensile environment and the second stage is the strike slip tectonic movement under compressive environment. The mechanism of strike slip tectonism in the two stages is different, and the impact on the depression is also completely different. The first stage of strike slip tectonism controlled the structure of the depression, especially the development of sedimentary center, while the second stage of strike slip tectonism mainly controlled the formation of some inversion structures. The superposition of two stages of strike slip tectonics led to the extensive development of composite flower structures in the depression.
