Abstract
As a Nation, the United States needs to focus its efforts on geoscience education. Many federal agencies, including the US Geological Survey, are dedicating time and resources to increasing the number and diversity of students who graduate as science majors. Through coordinated activities, through partnerships with schools, and through special outreach activities for students, for teachers, and for community groups, we hope to improve the visibility of earth science and its role in our society.
