Abstract

Background: One of the main prognostic factors in the treatment of gastric cancer is the presence of peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC), and its preoperative diagnosis is essential to avoid unnecessary laparotomies. Despite the development of different radiological diagnostic tests, sensitivity in the detection of PC does not reach 50%. Staging laparoscopy is a diagnostic method with a low complication rate and rapid recovery, which allows patients with peritoneal disease to avoid delays in cancer treatment
