Abstract

This chapter describes the role of social media in libraries in disseminating scholarly information in the 21st century. Social networking sites that connect friends, family, library users, and customers are called social networking. It will also be utilised for social and commercial purposes and plays a vital role in disseminating scholarly information in the 21st century. However, as internet connectivity develops, it is most popular in the professional sphere, notably at academic institutions such as universities, colleges, and schools. In today's culture, using social media has become crucial in academic activity. Social media is generally used for social interaction, sharing of Content, getting up-to-date news & information, and making decisions. It is a powerful and straightforward tool for talking with people, both locally and worldwide, as well as for sharing, generating, and spreading information in the academic environment towards disseminating scholarly information in the 21st century
