Abstract

Abstract In this paper, effects of various shapes of filler particles on interfaces formed in the composite have been studied. Detailed mathematical analysis has been carried out for various filler particle sizes, concentrations and interfacial thicknesses considering three shapes of filler particles (spherical, ellipsoidal and disc). It is observed that with the reduction in size of the filler particle, interfacial volume fraction (Vf) increases and this increase is substantial when particle size is below 2 nm to 3 nm.
