Abstract

We present a model calculation of the effective interaction between the charge carriers in YBa 2Cu 3O 7−δ and other related copper oxide superconductors. Our calculation shows that the plasmons (electronic excitations) play a dominant role in producing high superconducting transition temperatures in these materials.
