Abstract

Rationale: Previous studies suggested a contribution of microRNA(miR)21 to left heart remodeling and failure. Little is known about the role of miRs in right ventricular (RV) hypertrophy due to RV pressure overload, although RV function highly determines the patients outcome in several diseases of the lung (cor pulmonale). We therefore investigated the effects of Antagomir21, a specific inhibitor of miR21, on RV hypertrophy and fibrosis.
